Then the high priest questioned Jesus about His disciples and about His teaching. High priest...someone in authority...a position of power...questioned Jesus about His disciples...His followers...about His teaching...what he believed and taught...proclaimed.
Jesus answered him. I have spoken openly to the world. I have always taught in a synagogue and in the temple [area], where the Jews [habitually] congregate (assemble); and I have spoken nothing secretly. Do you speak openly to the world? Maybe you use the social networks...Twitter..Facebook...blogs...to get your point across...what you believe....how you feel about things in the world...your world, your nation. You say everything out in the open where everybody that you allow....according to your privacy settings can see what you write. Or it may be open to everyone.
If you do then you may find your self as Jesus did...in hot water with the authorities. Authorities can be a potential employer. What if they don't like what you have to say, how you say it? I can understand. They may not want the way you think, talk, believe, vote...on their team. They may see it as a threat to their agenda, to their business. Of course discrimination in the work place is illegal but if you haven't been hired yet...that's a loophole ahead of time for a potential employer. Isn't it nice they can check you out ahead of time......and judge you. LOL Whoa!
The high priests certainly didn't like Jesus. They hated him. He didn't have free speech that's for sure. He spoke freely out in the open and he spoke TRUTH. He was and is the very essence of truth. But they didn't like it. He went to the cross for it. You may go to the cross so to speak for speaking truth. You may not receive that nice job, position with that company because you're too political. It doesn't matter even if you were to do those things on the side of your job having nothing to do with their company...their business.
That's too bad. They could be passing up a very qualified and great person for their company. Maybe they haven't even given guidelines for what they require of you, but feel they can judge you anyway ahead of time. Even though it's not clear what your position is because they haven't made it clear, yet reject you for how you think, speak, write, twitter, facebook, blog, etc. You're possibly on the team but since we now have social media employers can check you out ahead of time. Wow! You don't even work for them yet...you don't even receive a paycheck but they can pre-screen you on your social network sites. That's great!
But are you going to stop being yourself now? Gain the whole world and loose your soul. If you do then you loose and they may gain temporarily. If you don't stop being yourself and they don't hire you. They may be judged by God in ways you'll never know or understand. There may not be an outright knowledge of how He is holding them accountable but think of the blessings they may have lost out on for rejecting you. Some companies are blessed just because you work for them. Some people are blessed because you are in their circle. When you leave the blessings may leave...it depends on God's will.
Jesus was rejected not only by the very people He created and died for. He was rejected as a King. He is King of kings and Lord of Lords but the authorities didn't like what He had to say.
Jesus said if they do it to me, they will do it to you. Follow Jesus and you'll get thrown to the dogs! LOL so to speak!
It's okay! Look what happened to Jesus in the end! Yes He died for all our sins, went to hell and took the keys to death, hell and the grave, was raised from the dead and now sits at the right..RIGHT hand of the Father. All power and authority on earth and in heaven belong to Him. God has exalted Him to the highest power and authority.
You aren't Jesus, but one day those that rejected you may see you in a higher position than you're in now...than even they are in. God works like that. He puts one down and picks one up. He LOVES to show Himself strong on our behalf.
Peter failed the test when he was questioned about knowing Christ. Was he too embarrassed to be seen with the seemingly failure? Jesus wasn't a failure we all know that but Peter denied him three times. Peter denied the truth. Peter denied TRUTH HIMSELF...Jesus Christ!
What is your truth? Are you called to preach the Gospel? Are you called into politics? Are you a blogger? Do you twitter and Facebook? Do you try to speak from your heart openly? You will be rejected my some and many. Especially if you are speaking the truth that you know.
Are you going to fail the test? Are you going to be a man pleaser? Are you going to sell out for 30 coins? for money..for that job you've been dreaming of? Go ahead! Throw your principles away for 30 coins. Someone will applaud you for it. But in the end you'll weep bitter tears you didn't go with your heart.
I'm just sayin'
Just talking here.
Love, Wandafay
